HISTORY

His mother got pregnant while still in college. His father was never in the picture. His grandparents were old school and thought his very existence was a blight to the family name. His mother tried, but she was young and just not in a place to take care of herself and him without help. So was placed into his first foster home at the age of five.

Never stayed with a single foster family for very long. One year bounced between five different homes, before being settled into an orphanage. It was awful. Now a teenager, he didn't tolerate the misuse and abuse that the orphanage tried to heap onto his shoulders just because he was older than most of the other kids. Eventually ran off to live on the streets. Which meant dropping out of school, but it's not like he'd been able to keep up with his schoolwork properly anyway.

Eventually ended up in his current gang family due to reasons that haven't been hashed out yet. It's been several years now and he's never been happier. He's finally got a place in the world and there are people who actually want him. So what if what they do isn't exactly legal or safe? What'd the government ever do for him anyway?

Personality

Having grown up unwanted, underfed, and almost completely neglected Sungwoo has reached a point where he's completely shameless about the things he wants Especially Ji-Woong. Because he learned early in life that if he didn't look out for himself and his needs no one else would do so.

Despite basically flunking out of high school, he's naturally pretty intelligent and has always been good with numbers. Numbers can't lie like people can and so they'd been a sanctuary he'd discovered early on in life. Yes, there was a time when he'd done math problems for fun. Got a problem with that?

Can be short tempered on occasions, because he's honestly fed up with a lot of the bullcrap the world tries to shovel his way. Got into a lot of fights in school, but never actually got good at fighting. Or taking a punch either. He's still pretty soft at his core and he bruises entirely too easily.

At the same time, he's honestly really nice when he wants to be? Is the sort of man who'd go out of his way to help an elderly lady across the street and he'd be more than happy to carry someone's groceries home for them. Not to mention his soft spot for animals. He loves cats and dogs the most and often gets into ridiculous situations trying to rescue kittens from trees or saving puppies from getting picked on by other thugs. (Sometimes his reputation is enough to keep him out of too much trouble in the latter, but not always.)

Goes to church every week. It's one of the few things he remembers about his mother and so for some weird reason the pomp and ceremony comfort him somehow. Despite this, he doesn't actually believe god is a thing. At least he's pretty sure god doesn't exist anyway.
